Ice Station Zero- About Project
- Once we'd got over the excitement following the announcement of BCUK's first album in 17 years we quickly met with the band and chatted through their ideas and concepts behind the creation of their 4th long player.
The title of the album 'Ice Station Zero' is a mirror of the 70's thriller 'Ice Station Zebra'. The band heavily sampled the film and wanted the artwork to be a reflection of the influence the film had on the music, as well as the encorperation of the iconic BCUK icon.
The double vinyl album gatefold includes a specially commissioned watercolour referencing the film poster, replacing the heads of the cast members with the heads of the 4 members of the band. The cover of the album references the radar that holds the film title on the original poster, with the BCUK logo encorperated, constructed from steel and buried in the snow giving it that epic D&B aesthetic.
The campaign included digital artwork, a 12" double vinyl gatefold sleeve, tshirt design and all static online assets. There was also a series of animated teasers created from the artwork posted on the band and label's social media channels leading up to and on the day of release.
